>>Program for the Culture Night 2019

18:30 - 19:15 ARTiS 2019 award ceremony

As the culmination of the ARTiS 2019 picture contest, prizes will be awarded in the categories: Nano, Micro, Mini, Macro, Mega, Visualizations, GPCRs and ARTiS Young; also special mentions to the most humoristic and the best instrument images, and the best video. Finally, the Best ARTiS 2019 image will be announced. Event in English.

20:00 - 20:15 Politics, fashion & science

The power of visuals. What is the place of visuals in our society? This talk will take a critical look at the use of visuals in our daily life, address new perspectives on using visuals for the communication of science, as well as the emerging practice of art and science. Talk by visual designer, photographer, and PhD fellow at DTU Andrea Bravo in English.

20:30 - 20:45 Art in science - a window to research

It can be an art to do good scientific research, but can science also be art? My talk explores the historical and contemporary connections between art and science and how art can be used to disseminate research. Talk by assistant professor at the University of Copenhagen Thor C. Møller in Danish.


>>ARTiS at Culture Night 2019

Once again, ARTiS will exhibit this year's contributions to the picture contest at the Ceremonial Hall of the University of Copenhagen during the Culture Night (October 11th 2019).

The final program of the event will be soon released, but as a sneak peak, come to see astonishing scientific photography, attend talks, vote for your favourite image, and play games. And do not miss the ARTiS 2019 Award Ceremony where we will announce this year's winning pictures。

>>A talk by Thor Møller in the Danish Science Festival

ARTiS was part of the Danish Science Festival this year. Our veteran team member, Thor Møller, participated in Book a scientist and gave a talk about art in science in three venues: Herstedvester Prison, the Little Pink Maker community lab and the Esnord Technical High School. Thanks, Thor!


>>ARTiS Kids Camp

Thank you very much to all the kids and parents that participated in the ARTiS Kids Camp 2019. We had an amazing time assembling portable microscopes, painting with fluorescent bacteria, freezing flowers in liquid nitrogen, learning how to take stunning pictures in a photobox, using the microscopes, and chatting about science with all these enthusiastic junior scientists.
